Directives

Used for crisis committees only!

Type 1: Personal Directives

Goals of a personal directive:

  • Clearly and concisely state what you want, why you want it (the purpose of your note), and how you will achieve this

  • Crisis staff will either approve or deny your directive

  • Notes are sent privately to crisis staff and you will be the only one who sees it (there are joint directives as well that can be passed between more than one delegate)

  • These notes should further develop your crisis arch and help you to achieve your overall goal in committee

  • These must be specific!!!

    • Crisis staff can take advantage of the vagueness of your notes to do something that might not be desirable

    • Making these notes specific and detailed ensures that crisis staff will not shoot it down

Type 2: Committee Directives

How are these different from personal directives?

  • These, unlike resolutions, are short and concise; they do not need to be extremely detailed

  • These should include specific actions and orders that you would like to be taken

  • Most crisis committees have more power than GAs, so use authoritative words such as mandates, implements, etc. (still make sure to research your committee’s powers prior)

  • Signatories and sponsors operate like a normal resolution

Operation Nautilus

TO: Admiral of the 7th Fleet, Thomas Fitzwallace

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Under my authority as Commander, USPACOM, move the following ships from the US base in Yokosuka, Japan to 15 nautical miles NE of the Straits of Malacca in the South China Sea:

    • 2 Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers: Fitzgerald and Stethern

    • 1 Virginia Class Submarine: USS Texas (SSN-775)

    • 1 Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier: George Washington

  • They will be moved on the 15th of September, 2015 at 21:30 (GMT+9)

  • They will patrol the area and protect oil trade to the Philippines, a close US ally

Through these measures, I expect all piracy against commercial and military vessels in the area to cease, and any pirates to be captured and reported to me.
